Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right

Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” is a song written by Bob Dylan in 1962, recorded on November 14 that year, and released on the 1963 album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan and as a single.  It’s the best ‘kiss off’ song ever written. ‘Don’t think twice’ is an American expression that means “don’t bother to think about it”. In Dylan’s song the lyrics are clearly saying ‘I gave you love and you wanted to own my soul’, ‘you had a good thing and didn’t know it’, ‘I see you as a hopeless waste of my time because you’ll likely never change nor understand.’ In short, ‘you’ll never realize how messed up your desires, dreams and needs are, but don’t let it bother you, because it doesn’t matter now that I’m leaving.’
